Sadie-Lynn: Defying the Odds with a Fierce Determination
At just 9 years old, Sadie-Lynn faced the heartbreaking death of her father, leaving her to navigate life’s hardest challenges without him. A year and a half later, after months of pain and frequent doctor visits to address elbow discomfort, Sadie-Lynn was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).
Sadie-Lynn’s battle with cancer began right before her 11th birthday. Sadie has faced endless hospital visits, procedures, and treatments, including lumbar punctures, central line placements, immunotherapy cycles, and most recently three-month IV chemotherapy infusions. Sadie-Lynn concurrently developed a Pseudo Brain Tumor, a condition where fluid builds up in her brain, causing painful pressure requiring bi-weekly clinic appointments to drain the pressure. The travel, the treatments, and the constant strain on her body has taken a toll, but Sadie remains determined, never letting her circumstances define her.
In January 2024, Sadie’s family was awarded a TRF Signature Grant, which gave them the extra support they needed to keep going while easing the financial strain, as well as a Travel Grant to assist with out-of-state trips to TRF partners Primary Children's Hospital in Utah. Through it all, Sadie keeps fighting and her spirit remains strong.
Despite the overwhelming obstacles, Sadie finds strength in the things she loves - animals, the ocean, and music. She enjoys dancing and singing to K-pop, letting the music carry her to a place of joy where the world seems a little less heavy.
Sadie’s family has been her constant support. Together, they became "Sadie-Lynn Strong,” lifting her up with love and hope.
