Joseph: Whatever It Takes
Joseph Esquibel is a 17-year-old warrior from Northern Nevada who has been facing an incredible battle since October 2022. That's when his life took an unexpected turn, as he was diagnosed with High-Risk Stage IV Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. But Joseph has shown that he is no ordinary teenager—he’s a fighter, and his courage inspires everyone who crosses his path.
Since his diagnosis, Joseph has been receiving treatment at several TRF partner hospitals, including Children’s Primary in Utah, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and, most recently, Philadelphia Children's Hospital. Along the way, he’s undergone Chemotherapy, Surgery, Radiation, and Proton Therapy, each step pushing him forward on his journey to recovery. But Joseph didn’t stop there—his battle continued with Car-T Therapy, a cutting-edge treatment he traveled across the country for, spending seven weeks at the hospital to receive this life-saving treatment.
Joseph and his family joined the Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF) in January 2022 through the Signature and Travel Grant Program. This support has been crucial, helping with travel and monthly expenses, so his family can be by his side as he faces each treatment with bravery. As part of his treatment journey, Joseph even temporarily relocated across the country, a sacrifice that allowed his immediate family and siblings to remain close as he continued to fight.
Outside of the hospital, Joseph is like any other teenager. He enjoys building with Legos, cheering on the Los Angeles Dodgers, and supporting the Buffalo Bills. Through it all, he holds on to his passions and finds strength in the things he loves.
Joseph’s bravery is nothing short of inspiring. Every day, he continues to show the world what it means to fight with resilience, strength, and hope. Thanks to the support of the Signature and Travel Grant Program, Joseph’s family remains by his side, cheering him on as he continues to inspire everyone with his courage and unwavering spirit.
