The average cost associated with childhood cancer is a startling $833,000.

The costs associated with a childhood cancer diagnosis make it a struggle for families to make ends meet while also being able to get their child life-saving treatment.

The National Children’s Cancer Society conducted a survey and found that 95% of impacted families say their child’s cancer caused a financial burden on their family.

1 in 4 families reports losing more than 40% of their annual household income as a result of treatment-related work disruption.

This figure does not account for out-of-pocket living expenses like travel for treatment and the expense of childcare for siblings.

Financial hardship persists at least a year after treatment ends.

Half of all pediatric cancer families report considerable to severe household debt as a result of the child’s cancer care and 33% of families state that one adult in their household stopped working completely.
