What a HUGE month for TRF

September Recap

Thank YOU for the 4Selfies for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

We received over 100 amazing photos. Thank you for supporting our effort and spreading love, support, and awareness. Take a peek at the bottom of this email for a closeup of all the photos we collected.

TRF Kids Making a Difference

A huge thanks to Vitalant and Team Super Benji, and for all those that came out to the Go Gold Blood Drive in Las Vegas. The event collected 75 hospital patient lifesaving donations!
On September 22, TRF and @Project150 combined forces with Summerlin Hospital Medical Center to open a reimagined nourishment room on the pediatric oncology floor, inspired by TRF warrior, Delilah.⠀

TRF and Project 150 donated and delivered bags of favorite snacks to stock the nourishment room, which offers patients and family members easy access to their favorite foods while in the hospital. Chemotherapy treatments can impact a patient’s food preferences, and parents are often unable to leave the hospital to get food or may not be able to afford outside snacks for their child in treatment. ⠀
⠀During her treatment at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital, Delilah saw the benefits of offering a snack room for patients and their families. Working with a child life specialist at Summerlin Hospital, Delilah developed a similar concept for patients in Las Vegas. ⠀

September 22nd is a date that holds special significance for Delilah. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma when she was 16 years old, Delilah began treatment at Summerlin Hospital on Sept. 22, 2017 and became part of the TRF family. ⠀

TRF Ambassadors Making a Difference

Last month, two amazing TRF Ambassadors planned and executed their first annual Sparrow Song event. This music, art, and dance festival was held at Chicken N Pickle in Witchita. This incredible outdoor community event had performances from local musicians and dance groups. The restaurant offered a 10% give-back on all food and drink sales for the event. They raised $940 for TRF!

We’re so thankful for our Ambassadors and all they do to raise funds and awareness for our pediatric cancer families.

TRF Sponsors Making a Difference

A HUGE HUGE thanks to our 2020 Rise Up Gala sponsors that allowed their sponsor dollars to stay in place despite the postponement of the event until 2021. These funds are making more of an impact than ever!

Our friends at Bank of America provided a $6,000 donation to our Ready2Learn campaign, which provides necessary school supplies to our TRF families, no matter what style of learning they’re involved with this year.

TRF Families Feeling the Difference

A note from Jaden’s mother:

“We’ll finally be leaving St. Jude on October 2nd, since we have been here since April 2019. It feels so good that we are finally ready to leave and go home!”

Jaden was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in October 2017 and completed chemotherapy. He relapsed in April 2019 and became part of a clinical trial at St. Jude. He and his mom had to move from their home in New Orleans, LA to Memphis, TN. He completed the clinical trial and is happy to be going home to continue treatment at Children’s Hospital New Orleans.

TRF is assisting with moving costs and rent for the remainder of the family’s TRF Signature Grant.

Did you know $0.85 of every dollar donated goes DIRECTLY to family support?

Connecting with Team TRF Schools

TRF stopped by three of our Team TRF schools with a special treat last month. Team TRF schools rally their community and their student body to raise money for our pediatric cancer families.
